Do you have experience with school dances and student events specifically?
Yes. We've provided DJ and MC services for proms, homecoming dances, winter formals, graduation parties, and other school events across Las Vegas. School events have a different set of requirements than weddings or corporate events, and we're familiar with all of them: age-appropriate music, faculty coordination, strict venue timelines, and district approval processes.
How early do you arrive to set up before the event?
We typically arrive one to two hours before your event start time for a standard school dance setup. If your venue requires an earlier load-in due to school schedule restrictions or a shared space, just let us know during the planning process and we'll accommodate it. We'd rather be set up and ready early than have students walking in while we're still adjusting levels.
Can you work with our school's student council on music requests?
Absolutely. We encourage student council involvement in the playlist planning process. We'll collect your must-play requests, your do-not-play list, and any themed music your event calls for, then build the set around that input. On the night of the event, we take real-time requests from students within the approved playlist guidelines you've set.
Do you offer lighting for school dances?
Yes. Dance floor lighting is included in most of our standard school event setups. We bring LED lighting rigs that create the atmosphere students expect from a great dance without requiring a separate lighting vendor or additional school equipment. If your venue has specific restrictions on lighting equipment, let us know, and we'll plan accordingly.
How far in advance should we book for a school dance?
For proms and homecoming dances, we recommend booking 3 to 6 months in advance. These are high-demand dates, especially spring weekends in Las Vegas, and popular dates fill quickly. Smaller school dances and events can often be accommodated with 4 to 8 weeks' notice. Once your event date has been approved by administration, locking in your DJ should be one of the first vendor decisions you make.
Can you provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for our school district or venue?
Yes. Booker Entertainment carries full liability insurance and can provide a COI to your school district, parent organization, or off-campus venue upon request. We know that most Las Vegas school districts require vendor documentation to be approved well before the event date. Just let us know your district's requirements, and we'll get the paperwork to you early.
